The SHUI Project

food, art, Community
founded by Chef Kenji Yee
Chef Kenji founded The Shui Project to explore food outside the confines of the restaurant industry. What started as a simple invitation to friends to enjoy a homemade meal in his living room has grown into something powerful and fluid – like water.
Catering
Since our founding in 2019, we have hosted dozens of family dinners, community pop-ups, and private dining experiences. No one menu is the same. Our catering services range from carefully crafted rice bowls to an elegant full-course omakase. We’d love to share a meal with you.

The Shui Team
“Shui guides me to the people who I have the most to learn from”
More than food, the Shui Project has always been about people. Meet some of the creative minds that have contributed to the growth and transformation of The Shui Project. Without them, we wouldn’t be.

Beginner’s mind
Words don’t fully encompass what we do here at Shui. It’s that feeling when you’re surrounded by friends and take that first bite. The flavors hit your tongue and you experience this moment of openness to possibility of becoming new. It’s not unlike the teachings of Zen Buddhism and the beginner's mind. Thank you to those who have helped us tell our story.

All of our community pop-ups are donation based. We work hard to keep our events and food accessible to all, but every dollar helps. Make a donation to support the future of Shui:
